The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is the air warfare arm of the Pakistan Armed Forces responsible for the defence of Pakistan's airspace. The PAF operates a mix of Western and Chinese aircraft, including fighters, transports, and reconnaissance aircraft. The PAF also plays a support role for the Pakistan Army and Navy and provides air support for land and naval operations. The PAF has a strong tradition of combat experience, having fought in several wars with India and playing a key role in the Afghanistan war in the 1980s. The PAF is now headed by Air Marshal Mohammad Asghar Khan.
